Rabbi Ephraim & Malki Guttentag our new Rabbinic couple

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rabbi Ephraim to Whitefield as our new senior Rabbi.

Whitefield members voted overwhelmingly in favour Rabbi Ephraim and his wife Malki becoming our new rabbinic couple. They will join the community in August this year.

Rabbi Ephraim Guttentag was brought up in Gateshead. He made aliya and studied at yeshivah in Israel, where he met Malki and gained semicha.

Malki Guttentag grew up in London. She too studied in Israel, where she met Ephraim.

They were married in London and became the rabbinic couple overseeing the education programme at Hale Synagogue, under Rabbi Portnoy.

In 2014 Ephraim became the Rabbi at St Annes Hebrew Congregation. This was followed in 2018 by becoming community Rabbi at Hampstead garden Suburb Synagogue. There he co-hosted the weekly Norrice-TV internet TV show, broadcast on Facebook, as a means of maintaining engagement with the community during Covid-19 Lockdown.
